About Me

I’m a seasoned engineer based in Manchester with 15 years of hands-on experience covering the full Microsoft stack including modern web development, plus nearly half a decade in management.

I champion cultures of trust, respect, and acceptance as my teams rise to new challenges. Having worked with many international brands with a multi-national presences across North America, EMEA, and Asia (e.g. Sony, GSK, NCAA & Tesco to name a few), plus local public-sector businesses, I’m intimately familiar with tailoring my public presence to the needs of any audience and mentoring engineering teams to accommodate off-shore legislative requirements or accreditation.

Combined with my growing reputation speaking at multiple public tech events, and my 2022 Women in Tech nomination, I bring Technology, Management, Leadership, and Public Speaking together into a balanced blend that can meet the needs of any growing business.

What do I do?

My little intro blurb above kinda says it all, however there’s a lot more to me than just talking tech.

Between building amazing cultures within engineering teams and working seamlessly with people of all professions, I’m also a mentor, manager and (hopefully) a friend to every person that works with me.

And when I’m not working?

It’s rare that I stop. Even with my feet up watching Netflix I’m still working on something, even if it’s not work related. I’m currently looking to expand my social calendar for 2024, with two speaking arrangements already scheduled in for Q1. Of course, recordings will be shared when they come available!

There’s a lot of things I do to detatch from work, from dog walks to the perpetual house rennovation works. There’s also a few other things that I have ticking over in the background that maybe one day I’ll share with the public.

What am I reading?

I’ve got a laundry list of books I want to get through this year, starting with:

  • Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson
  • Defiant by Brandon Sanderson
  • The Sunlit Man by Brandon Sanderson
  • The Entire Wheel of Time series!
  • Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson

The list will change throughout the year, but that’s my goals for 2024. You’re probably noticing a bit of a theme – yes, I’m a massive fan of Brandon Sanderson’s works. My fiancée and I have been working our way through his entire catalog for a few years now and we own many unique or signed items from his catalog, including the full leatherbound set, several signed publisher copies and most recently acquired a massive box full of Stormlight miniatures!
