2024 Round-up!

Happy New Year folks! I hope the holidays treat you well!

Back at the start of 2024, I posted my goals for the year. So let’s take a look back at those goals and review how I got along!

#1. ‘New Job, New Me’

I remember sitting down trying to work out how to write this one and as cheesy as that title says, it was the best way I could express what I was shooting for. My previous role was high stress, high demand and ended in a highly chaotic ball of emotion. I didn’t want any of that coming with me into my new role, and I did my best to be mindful of that and address my baggage™ before it had an impact on myself or anyone else.

The honest reality is it’s been far harder than that. My panic attacks are far fewer now, which is great, but I’ve still got a long way to got with this.

#2. ‘Monthly Tech Events’

What a whirlwind this one was! My goal was to do at least one social event a month, and on average I nailed this one – assuming we’re also counting podcasts in there too!

Here’s the rundown:

  • One key-note
  • 3 podcasts
  • 4 round-tables
  • 6 talks

While there’s absolutely room to expand on this, I honestly found my social calendar to be a little hectic at times, especially considering my other commitments!

Will I do this many events in 2025? Maybe, possibly. We’ll see.

#3. ‘One Book Per Month’

In 2023 I read 5 books. In 2024 I read 5 books again. I failed. Shame me.

#4. ‘Eat Better, Be Better’

Let’s break this one into it’s two core components. Address my relationship with food: Was I successful? With a little help, yes. Fast food consumption is massively down, and so is Haribo, cake, chocolates and other easy-to-grab foods. My partner has been massively helpful in guiding me towards a better diet!

As for exercising, towards the end of 2024 I started doing an at-home calisthenics workout, specifically focusing on my legs and core, which is starting to show signs too! This weekend, I’m signing up to the local gym as well, as my next target is to improve my overall fitness and endurance.

#5. ‘Quit Vaping’

Nailed it. I’ve been nicotine free for over 6months now!

So what’s my new goals for 2025?

Oh, you’ll have to wait and see!
There’s a LOT of fun things comign for 2025!
