OK, that title is perhaps a touch hyperbole, but it’s really been a busy time recently, which is why I haven’t had chance to post much here.

Last month I sat down with the gorgeous Matthew Johnson at SR2 to discuss, well, me! My history, my career, my drivers and passions and so much more, all as part of their Women Rock campaign. It was honestly a really enjoyable conversation where Matt’s charisma and professionalism helped me open up and share a lot of my history.

At the same time as chatting with Matthew Johnson, Redgate also partnered with SheCanCode and as part of that partnership I was asked to contribute to Women in Tech week with an article of my own.
Having recently mentioned my role model when talking with Matthew, I decided to dedicate a whole post to her; the truly wonderful Christine Ryan. Christine has left one of the most profound impacts on my career and continues to have a very special place in my heart despite us not having spoken in a very long time. That post went live here on my blog at the same time that it was released by SheCanCode as I wanted to align all three areas of my life.
You can read my SheCanCode post here or you can check out the exact same post here on my blog

Next, I sat down with Chris from The Leadership Link – the sister channel to The Developer Link, and recorded a video podcast on developer culture, what it really means to have a healthy culture and what some of the common pitfalls are. You’ll also be able to spot my dog – Marco – running around in the background and generally being a bit of a fluffy terror. You can check out that session here:

No, I’m not done yet! That same week I sat down with the beautiful Karl Perry from Pride In Tech, discussing how to attract queer tech talent. This podcast was such a fun exploration into reaching out to the right talent and why diversity of thought truly matters. I also talk about my experience being a token-hire and my experience as a hiring manager.
You can check that out in the spotify link below:

And finally we’ve come to the final item on my laundry list of recent activities: my public speaking engagement with CoreCom’s LeadersLab.
This was by far the highlight of October, where I delivered my talk on Developer Culture, exploring the failures, frictions and challenges that come with managing multiple teams and how I overcame those with a final focus on how others can do the same in their space. The event was attended by around 50 leaders from across the North, and the conversation and feedback that came from the talk was the best of my speaking career to date!

I’ll be giving the same talk at LDR on the 23rd of October, so if you’re interested in meeting me, or want to hear this talk, come along to the Bonded Warehouse at 18 Lower Byrom Street, Manchester, M3 4AP. Doors open at 6pm and there will be drinks and food!
Hope to see you there!
